so much for keeping a detailed record for posterity. screw it; what do they care anyway? i've got better things to do than write...right? hey, video games and useless textbook reading count as things to do.
at any rate, it's nice to be busy; despite what robin williams might think, being busy is the most efficient way of going through life without ever having to really know anybody. this is how people live with themselves in modern society - they have so much to do that they don't have time to connect with others in any meaningful sort of way. this means that my old way of doing things - actually desiring genuine friendship - is outdated. it's something that's become unnecessary in today's fast-paced society.
if we don't roll with the changes, eventually they roll over us, so it's time for me to embrace change and do away with all notions of lazy saturdays and slow nights around the fireplace with those i love. time to accept the fact that to feel complete all i have to do is make sure that my mind never has the time to spark the thought that i could be incomplete. it appears to have worked for most of modern society, teenage angst and commendable nbc shows aside (the teenagers engaged in teenage angst are too young and too stupid to have learned this yet anyway; post-adolescent angst is an entirely different matter...promise).
we all have places we'd rather not be; it's ok that i'd rather not be most places, isn't it?
(our newspaper advisor suggested we run an opinion article once in awhile where the writer pens an opinion piece because he's happy about something. i'm the opinions/features editor. tough luck, pal.)
